~{can't seem TO sleep}~{Alan}

[Jamie Marie Waters]

Jamie rolled over in her bed, it had been over an hour since she'd woken up and now she wasn't going back to sleep. Her mind just wouldn't shut off to let her fall back into her dreams. After another few minutes of staring up at the roof, Jamie finally slid out of her bed and into her tennis shoes.

Her sleeping attire wasn't really what most wore to sleep in, a pair of muggle athletic shorts and a tank top. Jamie glanced around, making sure everyone else in the dorm wasn't awake before grabbing her wand and slipping out the door. Getting down the stairs was easy, none of them seemed to creak loudly and it must have been late because even the fire was dim down in the common room. Should I go see if any of the guys are awake? She thought slightly, knowing that being a girl she could go up to the seventh year guys room and see if Alan or Marty where up...Marty was like a brother and Alan was the best friend she could ask for, but she debated if either of them would like being woken up this late.

Jamie stood there for a second and started to walk up the guys side stairs but when she put her weight on the step it let out a loud creaking sound. Cringing, Jamie stepped back and sighed, maybe no one had woken up from that. Better leave now before someone comes and gets mad at me for taking a walk..., She thought before slipping out of the common room. Being her, Jamie had always kept her broom up in the owlry, there was a closet up there, close to where Lily perched. That was Jamie's secret place to keep her broom, especially when she wanted to just sneak out and enjoy the night air. She knew that her close friends knew of her secret broom spot but she didn't mind, they knew that as long as they put it back they could use it.

Luckily, as she slipped through the halls, none of the professors where around and all the pictures seemed to be fast asleep. Jamie sneaked up the remaining steps and opened the door into the room where all the owls slept. Lily was the first to hoot loudly and then the rest started. Mentally kicking herself, Jamie closed the door and ran over to Lily, stroking the tawny owls feathers. Hey I'm gonna go out to the lake a bit, be a good girl okay? Jamie whispered softly waited till the owl rubbed her head against her wing. With a laugh, taking that gesture as a yes, Jamie pulled out her wand and pointed it at the dead bolt lock, Alohamora.

Instantly the deadbolt clicked open and in a few minutes, Jamie had her broom out. The brown haired Gryffindor stood there and pulled the velvet casing off the broom, back at home, it had been for a lawn chair of her Mothers. Though now that they didn't really have the lawn chair, Jamie had taken it and made it to where it would fit her broom. I do miss Mom..., She thought, thinking of her mother before her dad had been murdered but that was along time ago.

Jamie slipped her thoughts away from then and pulled them to now. Glancing over the edge of the balcony, Jamie couldn't help but notice how high up she was. Well I haven't done this in a while..., She thought to herself, remembering the last time she'd done this she'd nearly broken something. Well...it's what I get for not using my good broom..., Jamie thought, momentarily wondering if she should go get her firebolt from her trunk. Na...This one's good. Though her gray gaze moved over the end of the broom, making sure everything was still intact.

Just as Jamie was about to leap over the edge and onto her broom, when the door creaked open. A long shadow appeared in the door way, just as quickly as she'd practiced, Jamie let go of her broom and grabbed her wand, aiming it at the door. The old broom beside her, hovered just at her waist, but the seventh year girl didn't care. She was either about to use a spell that caused her to be practically invisible or find out that the person was a friend. Please please please be someone I know..., Jamie thought suddenly thinking about how she really wasn't supposed to be going on a nights ride.
