So with the second eldest Malfoy, there is bound to be some similarities between the two brothers, correct? Nick is known as being the most like a Malfoy, so Jake is meant to be that way? Jake claims he is nothing like most of his immediate family and prefers to say he is most like the Black family which he is related to. Despite his claims, he acted just the way his father did during his first year. That was stuck up and rude which are words that are described for his older brother. Unlike his older brother though, he doesn't care much for girls at all. It is because he believes that they would be a waste to him because he heard about what happened with his dad in the second war. His parents cared so much about him that they gave up fighting to look for him. He doesn't want that to happen to him, so he tends to be a loner. Since his grandparents gave up fighting, the Malfoys aren't really looked at as a faithful type of family to the kids of former death eaters.

Jake grew up being spoiled, but not as spoiled as his father had been. The family was still wealthy and powerful in the wizarding world, but had lost the respect of a lot of people. Jake grew up, mostly being left with his grandparents' as he always enjoyed hearing the stories about the Black family. Bellatrix was his favorite to hear stories about which showed that the boy from a young age, would not end up as that nice Malfoy boy that everyone had predicted him to be. Predicted him to be? Yes, when he first arrived at Hogwarts, he was approached by a few gryffindors, who offered to be his friend, figuring the Malfoy family to have changed. However, Jake rejected their offer and was soon sorted into slytherin after arriving at the castle.
For the past six years, he spent his years at the castle being a loner and staying away from others. He wasn't the most outgoing type and all, preferring to observe everyone and not really show his true self to anyone. People saw him as a bully, but not potentially as being a future threat to anyone. In his fourth year, he tried out for the quidditch team, but did not make it since he was too slow in catching the snitch. Since that, he has refused to watch any quidditch games or participate in anymore try outs. Deciding that he wanted a power over people, he asked his grandfather to teach him legilimens over the summer after his fifth year. His grandfather wasn't a legilimens himself, but he knew a lot about it since Bellatrix was one. He would have asked his parents, but his relationship is not the strongest with them. Before his sixth year began, he managed to learn legilimens which is something that he is proud of. It was one of those few times that a genuine smile appeared on his face since most of the time, he keeps a straight face and attempts to keep himself hidden. Perhaps during his sixth year, he will crack like his father did though he is hoping that does not happen at all.
