Madison was out on this gorgeous day, not enjoying the weather, oh no, she didn't have the chance, She was too busy chasing her owl Reese around after he snatched her homework away that she had been working on. She didn't want to be that girl in class telling her Defense Against the Dark Arts professor that he homework was taken away by her troublesome owl. Madison was outside ruining after her owl as it flew around her, taunting her with her homework. She only prayed that the parchment would not be torn or anything, good thing she clipped Reese's nails before this happened. That would have sucked.
Madison was so preoccupied looking up at were her owl was flying that she wasn't paying as much attention to what was in front of her, or were she was going for that matter. Before she knew it Reese had brought her to the Womping Willow, out of all the plants around school, that seemed to be the only one with a grudge on Madison, for no reason at all. Reese must have know this because he flew right on top of the Womping Willow but it didn't seem to either mind or notice. Madison stopped a few good feet away and looked up "Reese, get down here!" She quietly yelled up to the owl.
Madison took a few steps closer and took out her wand, pointing it at the bird. She took a deep breath and started to cast her spell, but as she did the Willow finally noticed she was there and sent a big root right for her "Imobu-" was all Madison could say for the Willow hit her right in the chest and sent her to the ground. Madison dropped her wand and looked over as Reese flew off and away. Madison went to get up but the willow wrapped it's vine around her ankle and pulled her toward it and then up o the air "Somebody heeelp!" She screamed, trying to detach herself from the willows grip

Brandon Lindon sat at one of the many desks in the library, his dark hair mussed up from his hands constantly running through it. Dark circles were obvious under his eyes, and he knew his skin looked pallid from… Well, everything. Bear had been through hell and back over the last week, with the full moon making him feel a lot weaker than he generally did, as well as it being the 6 month anniversary of his grandmother’s death. Bear had always been closer to his grandmother than his own mother, so her death had really hit him hard. Yawning, he closed the book on Arithmancy and rose to his feet, sliding the thick leather-rimmed paper back between two of the slimmer books close to him. Bear knew there was no way he’d be able to finish his essay in time for class, and he wasn’t going to waste the rest of a nice day trying to get it done.
Vacating the library with a rather far-away expression across his generally neutral features, Bear paused beside a window and frowned as he spotted an owl and his friend Madison in the grounds. Only Madison didn’t look all that pleased with Reese, and from the paper in the owl’s clutch, Bear guessed he had filched her homework. Uncertain which homework it was, although it looked about the same length as the one they had been set for Defence Against the Dark Arts. No wonder Maddie looked like she was going to kill the bird.
Laughing to himself, Bear headed out into the grounds and followed her towards the forest, his protective instinct kicking in the second he realised she was walking straight towards the whomping willow. Drawing his wand as he ran towards his friend, Bear could only watch as the tree hit Madison and then pulled her up into the air by the ankle. She’d almost look funny if the danger wasn’t so very real. Picking up her wand from where she had dropped it, Bear raised his own wand and yelled ‘Immobulus!’ Pausing to check his spell had worked, and once again eternally grateful to whoever had given him the ability to perform well when it came to spells, Bear moved to stand beside the upside-down Madison. Raising an eyebrow at her, he began tugging on the vines holding her up. “You really know how to get yourself into a mess, huh princess?” He laughed.

Madison was dangling up-side-down, the willow had her good this time, the womping willow never seemed to like Madison, not like it ever liked anyone, but it seemed to especially dislike Madison for some reason. She thought it might have been jealousy of the willow, Madison spent all that time with the other plats at school and never the poor womping willow, or maybe it was when she accidentally hit the willow with a jinx in her second year, whatever it might have been, the willow still liked to make her life some kind of hell. Madison could only wonder how she was going to get herself out of this one.
She really didn't want to hang there all day until somebody decided to take a walk around and find her, the willow was lifting its root that had her ankle up and down repeatedly. Madison finally saw one of her best friends coming over to her, she was so grateful to see him. It was Bear, they were pretty much best friends since their first year. With Madison loosing kyle and Kayla, she really needed all the friends she could get, Bear was a major shoulder to cry on, he was always protective of her, but in light of recent events,he was even more protective. Maybe that was a good thing since Trevor was back to taunting her.
Bear came over and tugged on the root with a smirk. He rhetorically asked if she knew how to get herself into trouble, then called her a princess. Madison gave her an up-side-down glare and crossed her arms as he hair was flowing through the wind. "Can you just get me-" but before she could finish the willow suddenly let go and she fell. She covered her face quickly and flopped on her back with a thud. She took a deep breath and saw the willow start to move about. "Why is it always me, Bear?" She asked with a tired tone in her voice, Madison was like the source of bad luck this year.

Resisting the urge to start prodding the side of Madison's mouth when she glared at him, Bear stepped back as the willow let go and she fell. Okay, on second thoughts maybe he would have done better to catch her... Shrugging the thought away, Bear glanced at the tree uncertainly before sitting on the ground beside his friend. Her tone indicated she was fed up, and Bear couldn't blame her. There were a lot of things happening to Madison that was sheer bad luck.
"I don't know Madison. I wish I did, but I honestly don't know," he sighed, giving her a sad smile before standing back up and offering her his hand. Bear didn't like the idea of them staying next to the willow, particularly when it was starting to regain its movement. Any more injuries that could be avoided would be a good start on getting rid of Madison's bad luck streak. Since Kyle and Kayla had died, Bear knew had become a lot more protective of Madison, but he couldn't help it. He had never been that close to Kyle or Kayla, they were always more Maddie's friends than his, but he knew how attatched she had been to them. Anything that worried or upset Madison would not be taken to lightly by Bear.
"Alright then Mads, we need to catch up. Haven't seen you around lately," Bear reminded the girl, although he had a feeling it might have been his fault. He had been spending a lot more time in the library recently. "Starting with why you were chasing your owl might be a good idea," he laughed.

Madison laid their on the ground like Lindsey Lohan in Mean Girls until Bear got up after he sit next to her and gave her an hopeful answer. She got back up to her feet and the moved out of the way, Madison really didn't trust the womping willow, one spell accident and that plant hated her since. She was really lucky to have Bear, he was the only one left in their house she called her best friend, besides him she had Kyle, who she was best friends with since they were kids, and without him, she was a lost soul the past few months. Loosing Kayla later didn't help either, it only made things worse.
As they walked away, Bear said they needed to catch up, because he hadn't seen her around lately. As weird as it sounded, it was kind of true, he was hardly ever seen in the common room as much, always getting in late and spending his time in the library. Madison hardly was able to step foot in that library, her and Kayla went there all the time to study in their special corner table and with Kayla gone she just couldn't do it any more. "Probably because i was busy getting forced upon..." Madison muttered softly under her breath, not sure if Bear heard her or not.
Of course Bear wanted to know why she was chasing Reese in the first place, she smirked at the thought of it. "That stupid bird... swooped down and grabbed my homework for Defense Against The Dark Arts that's due tomorrow. You know how much that grade counts!" Madison exclaimed, just thinking about it made her tense. She hated not having everything done right away, she had some time to do it, but for some reason, she just didn't have it in her, she started it the other day, but couldn't finish because lack of focus. She just had so much on her mind.

Bears' eyes narrowed as she mentioned she had gotten forced upon, but the way in which she had said it, under her breath, suggested she might not have intended him to. Still, he would get the rest of the information, namely by whom, out of her sooner or later. Probably sooner. What was the good in being someone's friend if you couldn't help them out when they needed it? Madison might not have asked for his help, but Bear was sure she wouldn't object to it. Just how far she'd let him go with getting the other person to back off on the other hand... Well, he'd just have to wait and see. "Care to explain further?"
“I know, I know,” Bear laughed, secretly pleased that he had guessed which homework it would be right. “Want me to see if Kends can find him? He might not have wrecked the parchment with his claws yet.” Kendra, Bear’s owl, wasn’t exactly smart, but she followed orders. So long as they were simple. And you couldn’t get much simpler than ‘find Reese, bring him back with Mads’ homework and do not let him destroy it’. Smiling at the thought, Bear wrapped an arm around Madison’s shoulders, rolling his eyes at how tense she was. She really needed to relax.
“Come on, breathe and smile. I know you like getting everything done but I’m pretty sure you won’t fail Defence because of one missed essay. Just have a word with the professor and ask for an extension, he knows you’ve had a lot to deal with,” what with Kyle and Kayla Bear added silently, uncomfortable in mentioning their names in case Madison started getting emotional. Emotional wasn’t something the Ravenclaw could handle. He would have suggested they headed to the library to talk, but he was certain that’d make her feel worse since she used to spend a lot of her time in there with Kayla. Just ambling around the grounds would probably be the safer option.
